Re: Worldviewpedia a Biblical Worldview Encyclopedia

Hey guys, the link the doesn't work because we've pulled it down for now. Interest beyond people saying they were interested in it was basically zilch so it has been pulled for now. We may revisit it down the road but we are focusing on increasing our web presence through the current website and so ...

Re: Insight on the 95 Theses please

The problem is that heretics declare independence from Church authority

I would agree, but when an institution ceases to follow God's Word or has become corrupt, an individual is not declaring independence from Church authority.

Re: A Formally Valid Argument for God

Which is why an academic approach to defending the faith is an exercise in futility. Faith is not an academic exercise and very few people are intellectually argued or convinced into the faith. The very thing you argue against is what convinces people like C.S. Lewis that God must exist. A belief i...

Re: Atheist presuppositions

Reason is useful but is inadequate for experiencing and knowing God. I find it strange that the God who is the author of reason and logic isn't a very reasonable and logical God when it comes to understanding and knowing Him. It somehow goes beyond all of that yet we are created in His image and if...

Re: Why Churches Fail

valkyrie wrote:He said without God you can't prove anything.

Exactly. God is the origin of everything, hence the reason I said "origins".

God is the creator of everything in the universe including logic, reason, scientific laws, morality, etc. You remove God and you have no basis to prove anything.

Re: Why Churches Fail

've read Van Til. He has some interesting views, but when it comes to proving his position, his "theology" amounts to a circular argument that is laughably stupid. All arguments dealing with origins are inevitably circular. As long as you keep asking "why" you end up going all t...

Re: Worldviewpedia a Biblical Worldview Encyclopedia

We'd like to network with some seminaries too and possibly encourage the staff to get their students to contribute as part of their class work.

Re: The Biblical Doctrine of Restitution

I'm just flying off the top of my head here so this isn't a definite statement from the Bible but I'm trying to paraphrase/condense it: If a criminal refuses to pay/can't pay he becomes an indentured servant of the victim until his crime is repaid. He basically becomes a temporary slave. Obviously i...

Re: The Biblical Doctrine of Restitution

Seattle, you are confusing restitution with imprisonment. Restitution is a gains-based form of punishment. Restitution is punishment. You take something and the punishment is that you have to return what you took plus interest. It's a pretty bad punishment. Most people would rather spend time in jai...

Re: Tea Party Politics and Political Propaganda

Seattle, My only response can be that while the Libertarian Party had a part in getting the movement started, it was the concepts, and not the party itself that propelled the Tea Party to grow as it has and it is from that that I don't see the Libertarian Party as the foundational group behind it. I...

Re: The Biblical Doctrine of Restitution

Gary wouldn't separate the Old and New Testaments. He would consider them both the revealed Word of God. Obviously this is the most general stance to give on something like that so please don't project on that statement to mean anything more than it actually says.

Re: Tea Party Politics and Political Propaganda

The party platform of The Libertarian Party IS atheist, as there is NO MENTION of God or the need for His divine guidance in life. I hate to say it Seattle, but you could say that for almost any political party in the United States. There are those who call themselves Christians in the Republican a...
