On the Worthlessness of Convervativism

From The Point magazine, "Why Conservatives Should Read Marx", http://www.thepointmag.com/archive/why- ... -read-marx we get:
“I did not mean to say that the Conservatives are generally stupid,” explained Mill in a subsequent letter. “I meant to say that stupid people are generally Conservative.”

This is obviously true.

For example, consider what any dyed-in-the-wool conservative will insist on protecting in the year 2030:
* Comprehensive and limitless restrictions on a man's ...

Upcoming Debate in NC!

For those of you in the Greensboro NC area:

Tomorrow at 7pm. there will be a debate at the UNC Greensboro campus. The topic? "Does the Christian God exist!"

Gun Buy-back Saves 200 Lives A Year

"Ten years of suicide data after Australian Prime Minister John Howard's decision to ban and then buy back 600,000 semi-automatic rifles and shotguns has had a stunning effect..."

http://www.smh.com.au/national/howards-gun-legacy--200-lives-saved-a-year-20100829-13xne.html

Admittedly, Australia has a very different gun culture to the USA. Such a ban might have a similar effect on suicides but the opposite effect on gun-related crime.

Harm

It is too quiet around here again.

How about these questions:

If we tell someone a lie and they believe it, do we harm them?

If we avoid telling the Truth to someone, do we harm them?

Does this verse apply? Lk 9:26

What if we are not equipped to take the Truth to others, what do we do?

What if we are not equipped to teach our own children and protect them from government ...

Please God, Let This be the Last Exorcism

Is Hollywood serious?

Another exorcism movie?

“The Last Exorcism” hits theaters today. I don’t plan on seeing the film, because I’ve grown tired of movies that take my mind to bad places and then leaves it there while managing to insult my religion along the way.

How many times are we going to see this same story?

Shotgun predicts the plot:

1. Distressed, and somewhat naive, Christian parents reach out to some Roman Catholic (or ...

Malacandrian Theology !!

I have found the following illustration helpful when introducing someone to Reformed metaphysics (AKA: Reformed Theology):

In C.S. Lewis' wonderful Sci-Fi novel "Out of the Silent Planet," the main character Ransom had full control over his mental faculties at all times. Of course, he was kidnapped and shipped off to a distant planet by force, but throughout the ordeal, his free-will dignity was never infringed.

What sort of novel would it have been if Ransom ...

The Love of One's Own

Why will nations and religions always be an important part of the human condition, while political ideologies - especially the PC approved atheistic-materialistic ones like "Democracy", "Socialism", "Fascism", even "The New World Order" - are rapidly losing their ability to inspire?

Love.

Loving God comes naturally if you are a Christian, and fearing Him is inevitable if you exist and have a mind. Even the demons tremble...
Loving the religion you were raised in is ...

Just Shut Up

I have recently read "When sociology students visit Creation Museum" - http://www.csmonitor.com/Science/2010/0 ... ion-Museum

Of course, by reading the title, you can guess the content: intellectually superior secularists arrive to sneer at the moron Christians. But while the song is the same, the tune is different: instead of attacking creationism, the article instead pounds away at today's hobby-horse, homophobia.

Nevermind that homophobia is merely a label, created specifically to ...
