A Tribute to Dr. D. James Kennedy - September 4, 2007 - As my dad would say, “This is the day that the Lord hath made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.” First, I would like to thank all of you for your prayers, cards, kindnesses and encouragement over the past nine months. We know that we have come through this difficult time because of God’s grace and your faithful prayers, and it has brought joy to us to see God’s faithfulness in all of this. It never ceases to amaze me the wonderful blessings that come during times like this. It makes it very easy to give thanks in these circumstances.
Advertisement Copy to Help Stop Abortion - August 20, 2007 - A mini-storage facility uses edgy ads to get the attention of customers. The latest billboard not only advertises its storage facilities but promotes its pro-abortion agenda. The ad causing controversy carries a picture of a coat hanger along with the following copy: “Your closet space is shrinking as fast as her right to choose.” Since New York is overwhelmingly liberal and pro-abortion, only a minority are disgusted with the advertising message.

Vick and his associates got involved in the dog fighting business. His story has made front-page news across the country.

Christiane Amanpour and the Moral Lottery - August 22, 2007 - Kay Haugaard has taught creative writing since 1970. As with most of her classes, students read and discuss Shirley Jackson’s short story “The Lottery.”Jackson’s lottery isn’t about winning millions of dollars by picking the right Lotto numbers; it’s about human sacrifice that a small town accepts and takes part in with no questions asked. Of course, the premise is absurd. Or is it?
Christianity & Islamism – June 7, 2007 - In the reign of Octavius Caesar, master of Rome, then mistress of the world, there appeared, in a small and obscure province of the Roman empire, a man of humble birth, yet lineally descended from the kings of Judea; born in the stable of an inn, yet born of a virgin, and announced to the world by the voice of angels as the Saviour of mankind.
Church Signs and the Downfall of America - August 31, 2007 - Last Friday I wrote an article about a local church sign, which was guaranteed to keep any man from ever darkening the church door. (See Wonderful Wednesdays) Well, I have another bad report about a church sign I saw last night. It read: Back to School -

Dominion Mandate Education - September 5, 2007 - Supporters have been happy with American Vision over the last 25 years because of its resolute goal of seeing God’s Kingdom advanced. And, we have confidence (but not smug overconfidence) that more God-honoring achievements will continue for many decades to come. This upbeat conviction is solidly grounded on two key factors: The first is the fundamental principle held personally by the entire AV staff, whether on or off duty, that 24/7 obedience to Him (John 14:15; Ecclesiastes 12:13) is the key ingredient in any winning formula for success.

The Infinite and the Finite – July 12, 2007 – One of the enduring problems of philosophy and science is the infinite and the finite. Michael Vick: Appeal to Darwin! - August 28, 2007 - We live in a topsy-turvy world. News articles have reported that Michael Vick has found Jesus. Since the popularity of the atheist tomes by Hitchens, Harris, Dennett, and Dawkins, I would have called on these defenders of Darwin and the no-God hypothesis and pleaded for evolutionary understanding rather than Jesus since He’s no longer in style.

What I Owe Dr. D. James Kennedy
(1930–2007) - September 6, 2007 - In December 1972 I entered a smoke-filled, beer and whiskey smelling bar in Oakland called the “Wooden Keg,” a college enclave set in the middle of the campus of the University of Pittsburgh. My once promising athletic career had come to a screeching halt. I was an aimless young man with a dim future. In the cluster of the crowd, a familiar voice called out to me.

Who Let the Dogs Out? - August 30, 2007 - By now, I’m sure that you’re probably tired of hearing and reading about Mike Vick and his not-so-merry band of dogfighting cohorts. I am too, but I have noticed a recurring hypocrisy throughout the whole sordid affair that I need to point out. While almost all of the reporting on the subject has revolved solely around Mike Vick himself, very little is ever said of the dogs.

The sign at this prominent Baptist church read, "Wonderful Wednesdays"

Zeno's Paradox - July 19, 2007 - As we discovered last week, the concept of infinity is one that has far-reaching implications not just for mathematics, but for philosophy and theology as well. Far from being a mere mind-bending theoretical concept, infinity has actual bearing on the real world, on the finite bound “here and now” man. |
