This is the season when many Christian-cause organizations make appeals for year-end contributions. Americans are the most charitable givers in the world and Christians give a lot more than most. You readers are a part of this admirable group so I’m asking that this year, in addition to a regular gift to your favorite ministries X, Y and Z, you’ll also send them a contribution of another sort. I’m speaking of a personal note explaining why they need to make an important new tactical resolution for the coming year.
Here’s the background: These cause-dedicated groups fight hard to achieve specific goals. Collectively, they seek victory over the humanistically-caused cultural “disease” dragging our country down and making Satan look needlessly effective. Many Christian organizations work to promote such things as pro-life, creation science and anti-evolution measures, conservative colleges, pro-family efforts, problem-preventing marriage seminars, avoiding credit card excess, “saying no” to drugs, exiting the homosexual life, etc. Others work against “infections” such as pornography, the ACLU, socialism, historical revisionism, left-wing politics and politicians, problems relating to divorce, teenage suicide, spousal or child abuse and so on. Either way the common theme addressed by your ministry of choice is the devastation humanism inflicts on culture and the specific humanist disease symptom each ministry is dedicated to eliminating.
I’ve already taken my own advice by firing off a similar request to three separate groups this year. Here’s the message. Adjust and borrow it as you’re led.
Sir,
As you know from my past giving and enclosed check, I fully support your cause. That’s why I hope you’ll be open to a thought-provoking idea. I believe there’s a direct link between the problem we both want eliminated and the reason that victories for our side seem few and far between. The link is that the humanist disease symptom your ministry is working hard to eliminate has its seeds planted 99% of the time in the treacherous soil of K-12, public school classrooms where young kids are cleverly set up for humanist propagandizing. Worse still, once launched, the process is perpetuated and intensified year after year, often subliminally, in the classrooms. The government and NEA agendas aim to ensure that each new September will bring with it still more high-tech indoctrinating methods that will be more effective than those of the year before.
Thus, it’s not surprising that surveys by Christian pollster, George Barna, have uncovered extremely discouraging facts about teens (and thus your potential adult donors) who have had their Christian basics poisoned by toxic doses of humanist mind-molding in the schools. Infected kids nonchalantly tell Barna that; all truth is relative, tolerance and love are what life’s all about, self-esteem is the thing, God is “your kindly uncle,” plus the sense that, “Hey, whatever, man” regarding the specific disease symptom your ministry wants to eradicate. This is not a good equation for disease elimination for either you or your donors. With the graduation each June of a new herd of morally-wounded kids it is little wonder we often feel we’re shoveling against the tide.
Down the road, all this can’t help but bear heavily on your ministry’s future effectiveness and fund-raising abilities. The bitter fact is that the hearts of tomorrow’s adults are being systematically hardened against a biblical worldview which is why your job will tend to get more, not less, difficult. Yes, it’s true that in God’s providence your ministry is supported by public school-trained Christian adults who, through His grace, have managed partly to escape these damaging influences. But as the years pass and school indoctrinating effectiveness “improves,” the public school-trained children of these donors may not enjoy the same degree of “escaping grace” their parents enjoy. Even those new young adults who do see the light may be less committed because of the heavier overload of humanist propaganda they’ll be busy (hopefully) trying to shed.
These education/indoctrinating facts are irrefutable and I’m asking you to stress them to donors in your 2008 fund raising letters. I’m also asking you to make regular, repeated invitations to donors like me to “double our giving power, etc” by removing children from the clutches of the public school mind-molding machine in favor of Christian education for Christian kids. If you do you’ll be enhancing your future impact, helping to solve the humanist problem once and for all and helping today’s kids be the kind of adults this troubled 21st century desperately needs and is going to need more of. If nothing else, do it out of love for the kids. Sincerely yours.…
Friends of American Vision: Thanks for taking up this challenge. You can do it! Simply make the connection between your donation-receiving ministry’s “thorn in the flesh,” the humanist source of the “symptom” and the humanist schools. Remind them that it’s being taught in math classes, social studies, music…all of them! I’ll let you know about the responses from the ministries I contacted. Thanks, and I hope you had a very Merry Christmas.
