Is America on the verge of the next Great Awakening?
By Brandon Vallorani
A very well-respected Christian leader privately told one of our Board members that American Vision is on the leading edge of the next Great Awakening. Incredible. The possibility that God may be giving America a second chance and that He is using American Vision to lead the way seems unbelievable. Yet, I believe it is possible because I meet Christians from all across this nation who recognize the sovereignty of God over all of life and are seeking first His Kingdom. Many of them tell me that God used American Vision’s teaching ministry to jolt them awake. If you have a moment, I would like to tell you how my life was also radically changed by the ministry of American Vision.
It was just after the turn of the millennium that my worldview was turned completely upside down. Late one evening in the comfort of my living room, a good friend showed me Gary DeMar’s video, Demystifying Revelation. At that very moment the “blinders” fell off of my eyes. I began to understand Bible prophecy and God’s redemptive plan like never before. Years of questions about Bible prophecy were answered, doubts about the timing of Christ’s return were erased, and my faith was bolstered to a whole new level.
Until I saw that profound video, I was like most Bible-believing Christians in America. I believed that the Gospel provided nothing more than a ticket out of Hell. I also believed that we were living in the final days of human history. I believed that the world was growing darker and that Jesus would soon return to rescue a believing remnant from the clutches of Satan’s grasp. While sincere in my beliefs, these crucial misunderstandings rendered my Christian life culturally irrelevant and hindered me from advancing the Kingdom of Christ.
Over the past 6 years, American Vision has helped me to build a truly Biblical Worldview. It’s an amazing and humbling thought to look back and realize how one seemingly insignificant video could lead to several key changes in my life. Everything from my involvement in society and the Church to how I manage my money and “plan” my family were radically altered.
It’s been said that “ideas have consequences.” It follows then, that what a person believes about the “Last Days” affects how they live today and the decisions they will make tomorrow. One of my relatives once told me that he did not want to bring children into this world because circumstances were growing worse and the end was near. Sadly, he is not the only Christian using this logic.
I remember meeting a dear lady at an American Vision conference last year. She told me how her heart was burdened for America, but that her extended family would not support her because they believed we are living in the Last Days. Considering the popularity of this bad thinking, it is no wonder America is experiencing a cultural crisis.
Thankfully, Gary’s clear teaching caused my wife and me to realize that we were not living in the end times. We understand now that the Church was meant to fulfill all of the Great Commission and the Cultural Mandate— teaching the next generation to observe all things that Christ has commanded. This significant and new understanding caused us to ponder the purpose and mission of our family. Unlike most Americans that have only 1.5 children and ship them off to government schools, we caught the vision that the Biblical family is one of God’s primary vehicles for spreading the Gospel!
This fact is revealed in the earliest of Bible passages. Immediately after God made Eve for Adam, He told them,
Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it;
have dominion... (Gen. 1:28)
And again, after the great flood, God repeated this directive to Noah:
Be fruitful and multiply; Bring forth abundantly in the earth and multiply in it. (Gen. 9:1)
The prophet Malachi reveals to us the purpose of marriage and of having children:
But did He not make them one, having a remnant of the Spirit? And why one? He seeks a godly offspring. (Malachi 2:15)
These passages hit really close to home, as my wife recently gave birth to our fourth child—Isaac Anthony. Yet, Isaac would not be here today had God not used the American Vision resources to change my worldview. I pray that God will bless us with many more and that we will raise a godly offspring in the “nurture and admonition of the Lord” (Eph. 6:4).
Friends, I share all of this with you not to initiate a child-bearing competition. Rather, I want to tell you that American Vision has a strategy to win the Culture War. My family is living proof. Gary DeMar once told me that “whoever has the most babies wins.” I’ll never forget this remarkable statement. If families produce many “godly offspring” as the prophet Malachi said, we will eventually outnumber our opponents. The current “Post-Christian” generation is killing their children physically and spiritually. It’s just a matter of time before their worldview collapses. We must be ready with a victorious alternative to fill the void.
In short, American Vision is calling Christians to instill a Biblical Worldview in the next generation. It’s much more efficient and effective to win children rather than adults. I am amazed at the number of evangelistic programs (some good and some bad) that promise an exponentially increasing number of conversions if each Christian would simply “win one soul to the Lord each year.” These programs sound great, but they only work well on paper. God’s way is the best way. Deuteronomy 6:6-7 states,
“And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.” (See the entire context, vs. 1-9)
As one of the world’s leading Biblical Worldview ministries, American Vision is collecting and creating the very best training material to equip and cooperate with you (parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, pastors, and teachers) to diligently instruct children in the “nurture and admonition of the Lord.”
My story is just one example of a life changed by this ministry. God is using American Vision to change countless lives, restore America’s Biblical foundation, and expand His Kingdom on the earth.
“I pray God’s abundant blessing and protection on you for this critical ministry and all that you do in helping to return our nation to truth in Jesus’ name.”— S.W., Oregon
“Just read Gary DeMar’s book End Times Fiction--fantastic! Interested in more resources. Thanks.”— Pastor G.T., North Carolina
