Air Conditioning is Destroying the Constitution
By Gary DeMar
A hundred years ago (July 17, 1902), Willis Haviland Carrier invented air conditioning. Twenty-six years later, the hallowed halls of Congress were air conditioned. What seemed like a good thing has become a disaster. Washington D.C. is unbearably hot in the summer. Prior to AC, most official government business shut down in the summer months because of the stale, stagnant, and stifling heat. And this says nothing about the ever-present mosquitoes. AC allowed Congress to remain in session all year round and make more mischief and more laws in the process. One way to stop the power of government and the steady increase of taxes is to take a page from the eco-freaks. Let’s ban air conditioning in Washington, D.C. In fact, let’s call on all politicians to put their air conditioning where their devotion to the environment is. All government buildings should go without air conditioning to help stop global warming and ultimately to save the Constitution and the rest of us. Let's not tell them about saving the Constitution. They won't like that. |
