Seven Reasons for AV in 2009 and Beyond

by Gary DeMar, Dec 02, 2008

The ministry of American Vision exists only because God has ordained it. We are not here simply to preserve our own bureaucracy—God has raised this organization up for a specific purpose! With families tightening their financial belts, we realize that you cannot support every ministry that asks you for a year-end contribution. However, please allow me to give you seven specific reasons why America needs American Vision in 2009 and beyond.

1. AV offers a thorough biblical education.
American Vision is one of the few ministries that teach Christians how to apply the Bible to all of life. Many ministries focus on the abstract—one’s prayer life, relationships, feelings, etc. While these are important, very few ministries teach Christians what the Bible says about economics, business, education, science, the arts, and government. With America spiraling headlong into socialism, an organization that helps Americans return to the biblical basis for liberty and prosperity is vital.

2. AV challenges misguiding interpretations of Bible prophecy
American Vision is the only major international ministry that challenges “last days madness” head-on. The modern church’s obsession with the Rapture and the “end times” has led modern Christianity into a period of cultural paralysis and impotence stretching back several decades. We exist to wake them up and show them God’s plan for the ages—a plan for victory and not retreat! We have many testimonies to prove that a difference is being made in the lives of people who hear the message.

3. AV conserves and is effective
American Vision is able to produce and distribute thousands of training resources with a relatively small budget and small staff. This year alone we’ve published an average of 2 new books per month and distributed more than 100,000 training resources around the world. We’ve produced two radio shows aired on hundreds of stations each week, held debates and conferences, and operated a fast-growing and popular Christian worldview web site. All of this has been done very efficiently with approximately 20 dedicated staff members.

4. AV collaborates with like-minded ministries
American Vision cooperates and partners with other ministries to advance the Kingdom. We realize that we are not the only ministry that God has raised up to educate and equip Christians. That’s why we take the opportunity to support and promote groups like Coral Ridge Ministries, The Christian Anti-Defamation Commission, The World History Institute, and Creation Ministries International at no cost to them. In addition, we also hold combined teaching events and link to dozens of other ministries on our web site. We believe in working together for greater results.

5. AV has a plan to meet your personal study needs
American Vision is launching a Christian Dominion and Stewardship study center in 2009 for the purpose of helping Christians apply the Bible to every area of life. When’s the last time you heard a Christian speaker present a biblical study on economics? Yet, the Bible has much to say about this topic and it will be an important focus of this organization in 2009. Speakers we bring into this new study center—headed-up by Joel McDurmon—will be filmed and their presentations published on our web site, along with study guides, as part of our global training initiative.

6. AV is reaching out to the Church
American Vision is producing a 7-part video training series free of charge for churches in 2009. This powerful series will help Christians understand God’s sovereign plan for history and how they are a part of it. Our goal is to help Churches grow, become salt and light, and transform the culture for Christ. This 7-part series will be filmed next summer during our national conference, which we are calling Mandate 28: A Long-term Strategy For the Future.

7. AV directs financial support to ministry only
Finally, American Vision is able take every dollar donated and put it directly into ministry, rather than salaries. While there’s nothing wrong with using donations to support staff positions, we’ve always had the conviction that the salaries of our staff should come from the revenue we generate from the sale of our products. I want you to have the confidence of knowing that your donation dollar is not spent on labor, but real tangible results.

As you know, economic uncertainty has taken a toll on non-profit ministries and businesses. As we end 2008, I am asking that you prayerfully consider a tax-deductible gift to help us make up lost financial ground in 2008 and start 2009 strong.

With your gift of $100 or more, I will send you a complimentary copy of our newest book, The History of the Reformation in the Sixteenth Century by J. H. Merle D’Aubigne, D.D. Originally published in 1872, this beautiful 800-page edition features 20 books, twelve steel engravings, and 200 wood illustrations including portraits of the most eminent Reformers.

There’s a lot of work to be done and we believe God has called us to the task of making a lasting difference for His Kingdom! But we need faithful partners like you to join us in this Kingdom-building effort.
